Something I’ve been experimenting with during the last segment is a way to remember my commitment during the entire day, even when I’m away from the computer. The Nightly Reminder was a step towards that, but it still isn’t enough. Don’t worry, I’m not going to start spamming your inbox all day with reminders, but what I’m suggesting is you do it yourself in a way. For the last week, I’ve had a message on my phone that I see every single time I turn it on, and that message has been “What am I thankful for?” Through this regular reminder I have been able to become more focused on what I’ve been thankful for, even in times when I usually wouldn’t have thought about it.
What I am proposing is that you leave a note somewhere that you would see it often. You can do it on your phone like I did, put a sticky note somewhere that you often go, write it on an index card and put it in your pocket, or whatever else you think would best help you keep the commitment. The reminder I am setting for my phone is “Am I being honest?” but you write whatever you feel would help you most.
My hope is that this will help us to be more honest, and through being more honest we will be more like Christ, the only person to live on the earth a perfect being, and who’s example we all seek to follow.
