Hello! This is the Physical and Emotional Health starting post. If you are new or would like a reminder, click here for a post on how everything is run with FTSOA.
For those reading this post I recommend you read to the end because I’ve written all the last paragraphs specifically for this segment.
- First off, this morning I said to ask yourself “How have I been blessed by living this standard?” If you didn’t have time to due to rushing off to Church, I suggest you do it now.
- For those who don’t have their own copy of For the Strength of Youth, you can read the section on Physical and Emotional Health by clicking here.
- The daily reminders, as well as new posts, will be posted on the website ForTheStrengthOfAll.com if you wish to view them online instead of in your inbox.
- You can find previous reminders here.
There are two commitments, one broad commitment that you make now and one that will be sent to you every day that is a bit more specific. Here is the broad commitment:
I, ____________________, have read the For the Strength of Youth section on Physical and Emotional Health and commit to living the standards mentioned there today and every day until August 23, 2015.
As said before, you must read the For the Strength of Youth section on Physical and Emotional Health before committing to the program.
There is also a second commitment that is based on the second sentence of the last (7th) paragraph of the For the Strength of Youth section on Physical and Emotional Health:
Today I, ____________________, will do all I can to safeguard my physical and emotional health.
It is this 2nd commitment that will be sent every day. To help with the commitment, you may want to leave a note for yourself somewhere, perhaps a sticky note on your desk or a digital reminder on your phone, wherever you think that it would most help you keep your commitment to proper Physical and Emotional Health. There will also be an optional second post sent out at 6:00 p.m. each day which, if you read it, can help remind you to look back over your day see how well you are keeping your commitment.
This segment has a large variety of things for someone to work on. As of now, it’s looking like of all the segments this is going to have to be the most self-motivated because, unlike the others, there is no “one” standard for health. Different things work for different people, and the best I can do is offer suggestions, give you links, and post inspirational quotes when I find them. If you want this segment to help you, you’re going to have to click some of those links and find what works for you.
My first link is https://providentliving.lds.org/self-reliance/health?lang=eng#. The more specific commitments you’ll be making are to eat nutritious food, obey the Word of Wisdom, get enough sleep (yes, seriously), take care of your emotional health, not intentionally harm your body, take care of your body in general, and exercise regularly, all until August 23. The link above has sections for most of those commitments. More specific links will be sent out with the more specific commitment, but until then you might want to get started researching what you need.
I also have a second important link. If you have trouble with the Word of Wisdom or suffer an addiction, this is the church’s website specifically for people like you. They’re there to help. Remember that all is possible with the help of the Lord. This is something else that is better the sooner you start.
One more thing. I am moving the nightly reminder up to 6:00 because I have heard that some people don’t even check their email after dinner. This still might be too late for them, but we’ll see. Comment if you have an opinion.
