Hello! Thank you for signing up for or thinking about signing up for the project For the Strength of All. This what I call the “initiation post”. There is one at the start of each segment, and it will explain what is going on and how everything will work. If you need help signing up, go here. If you have been here a while and already know how everything works, click here for the “Continuation Post,” which is a shortened version of this post that excludes information about how everything works.
The structure of For the Strength of All is that we all will commit to living one section of For the Strength of Youth at a time for three weeks. During that time we will try our hardest to live those standards the entire time. This segment’s topic is Language. It is necessary to read the For the Strength of Youth section on Language before continuing, so if you do not have a physical copy of For the Strength of Youth you can read the topic’s section here.
There are two commitments, one broad commitment that you make now and one that will be sent to you every day that is a bit more specific. Here is the broad commitment:
I, ____________________, have read the For the Strength of Youth section on Language and commit to living the standards mentioned there today and every day until July 12, 2015.
As said before, you must read the For the Strength of Youth section on Language before committing to the program, maybe even every day if you have time for it. To help with the commitment, here is a post sharing a way that I’ve discovered that will help us to remember the commitment throughout the day.
There is also a second commitment that is based on the 1st sentence of the 3rd paragraph of the For the Strength of Youth section on Language:
Today I, ____________________, will always speak kindly and politely to others.
It is this 2nd commitment that will be sent every day to those who are signed up. There will also be a second post sent out at 9:00 p.m. each day which will help you review your progress and keep your commitment fresh in your mind. It will only take a moment of your time to read it. You are also encouraged to read the extra information that will be underneath the main commitment. The extra information is there to help you understand the commitment and live it to its fullest.
The daily reminders as well as other new posts will be posted on the website ForTheStrengthOfAll.com if you wish to view them online instead of in your inbox, and you can find previous reminders here. Being subscribed will allow the computer to automatically forward all new posts directly to your account the moment they are posted. Because you cannot receive the daily reminders until you have activated your subscription, make sure that you check your email and confirm your subscription when you sign up for the first time. After that, the daily reminders will be sent every morning automatically.
If done right, this is going to be a hard segment. What you are committing to is to not gossip about, mock, tease, or even speak angrily at or rudely to anyone for the next three weeks. You also commit to not swear, take the Lord’s name in vain, or use crude language or gestures of any kind for the same three weeks period. If you have trouble with any of this, which you will, you also commit to asking for the support that you need, whether from your friends and family or from God, preferably all three. Just remember that while it is perfection that we are striving for, as Jesus has commanded, it is enough so long as we try our hardest. So don’t be discouraged, He loves us enough to make up the difference so long as we do our best.
p.s. Happy Father’s Day!
