Hello! Thank you for signing up for or thinking about signing up for my project For the Strength of All. This what I’m calling the “initiation post”. There will be one at the start of each segment, and it will explain what is going on and how everything will work. If you need help signing up, go here. If you have been here a while and already know how everything is run, click here for the “Continuation Post,” which is a shortened version of this post that excludes information about how everything works.
The structure of For the Strength of All is that we’ll commit to living one section of For the Strength of Youth at a time for three weeks. This segment’s topic is Friends. It is highly advised that you read the For the Strength of Youth section on Friends before continuing. If you do not have a physical copy of For the Strength of Youth, you can read the Friends section here.
As is becoming the usual, there are two commitments, one broad commitment that you make now and one that will be sent to you everyday that is a bit more specific. Here is the broad commitment:
I, ____________________, commit to living the For the Strength of Youth standards for Friends today and every day until May 10, 2015.
As said before, you REALLY want to read the For the Strength of Youth section on Friends, maybe even everyday if you have time for it. To help with that, here is a post which has a list the extra commitments (commitments in addition to the primary commitment which help you focus on something specific) that will be coming each week. There is also a second commitment that is based on the 1st sentence in the 2nd paragraph of the For the Strength of Youth section on Friends:
Today I, ____________________, will strive to be a good friend.
Those who are signed up will be sent the 2nd commitment every day for the next three weeks. It will only take a moment of your time to read it. You are also encouraged to read the extra information that will often be underneath the main commitment. The extra information is there to help you understand the commitment and live it to its fullest. The point of these short segments is to help you nail the principle so well and lift yourself so high that at the end of the allotted time, when you go back to living your life like normal, you won’t fall quite as far. You will have improved, bettered, magnified yourself.
The daily reminders as well as other new posts will be posted on the website ForTheStrengthOfAll.com if you wish to view them online instead of in your inbox, and you can find previous reminders here. Being subscribed will allow the computer to automatically forward all new posts directly to your account the moment they are posted. Because you cannot receive the daily reminders until you have activated your subscription, make sure that you check your email and confirm your subscription when you sign up for the first time. After that, the daily reminders will be sent every morning automatically.
I strongly suggest writing down your commitment and saying it out loud to help you focus on it. If you want to do better, bring your family and friends into it. Support each other and use this as an opportunity to grow closer and stronger.
Above all, remember that God is always with you, and that He is always there to help you when you are in need. The purpose of making this commitment is to heed Jesus’ request to come unto Him. By living a Christ-like life, we show Him that we love Him. As we make this commitment, may we have His strength and guidance to do as He wishes.
