Daily Reminder on Physical and Emotional Health: #5 out of 21

Today I, ____________________, will do all I can to safeguard my physical and emotional health.

“Exercise regularly.” – For the Strength of Youth

I, ____________________, commit to exercise regularly until August 23.*

(I will point out that “weekly” is regularly if that is all you can do. Whatever you do, use this as an opportunity to get started.)

“Exercising physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual abilities is required to not only maintain but also improve these abilities. Without exercise, these abilities diminish. Furthermore, fitness in one area can strongly influence fitness in another. For example, improving physical fitness enhances mental, emotional, and even spiritual acuity.

“Specific exercises are designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and aerobic capacity. But every exercise must be tailored to meet a person’s individual requirements, such as age. Where weight bearing is a problem, water exercises are helpful. Chair and desk exercises are useful for those who spend long hours in a sitting position. There are many exercises and activities like these that are inexpensive and can fit the budget of almost anyone.” – Exercise and Fitness page of the church’s Provident Living website

The Exercise and Fitness page of the church’s Provident Living website has links to several talks of related to the subject.

There are many many ways to exercise, and many many websites that have recommendations. I suggest you find something that matches what you want. For example, I like swimming and I’m using this website I found for workouts. I also got the Daily Workouts for more specific things, such as abs, and the Simply Yoga app because my swim coach recommended yoga. You could also do something unstructured. For instance, I go for a run every other day, somethings that doesn’t need anything but a good pair of shoes.
