Agency and Accountability Segment Closing Post/First Year of For the Strength of All

Congratulations! You’ve made it through the Agency and Accountability segment!

Not only that, but if you started with For the Strength of All when it began January 11, 2015, you have just made it through both one year and the entire For the Strength of Youth pamphlet!

I’m really tired as I write this, but I’ll try to not show it. It’s been great to see how the program has changed over time, and even better to see how I’ve changed over time. Hopefully you have had a similar experience. I know that personally some of the things I did a year ago are still having an effect on me now, even after all this time, and for that I am very thankful. I am also very thankful for all the support that I’ve had over the past year, from family, friends, subscribers, and the Lord most of all.

The For the Strength of Youth pamphlet truly is an inspired writing. If we apply its principles in their fullest we really will be among the happiest people to have ever lived. And as we strive to become more like our Heavenly Father by daily choosing to follow Him, He is pleased. I have felt that pleasure many times throughout the past year, and I hope that you have too.

There is probably more that I could say, but the late hour leads me to wrap up the Agency and Accountability Segment instead. The next segment will be starting later today when I send out the initiation email at 6:00 pm ET. The topic will be Dress and Appearance and the segment will most likely last for three weeks, until Sunday February 7.

Before you let this topic rest, ask yourself “How have I been blessed by living this standard?” Write what you think of down. It can be a specific instance, a favorite quote, a feeling, a thought, whatever it is, write it down. I find it helps me to put the hard work into perspective, seeing how much it has helped. Perhaps also write down some way that applying the principles of For the Strength of Youth have helped you at some point over the last year/several months.

To conclude this segment, I’ll leave you with these inspired words spoken by Elder Robert D. Hales in his conference talk To Act for Ourselves: The Gift and Blessings of Agency:

“We have been given agency, we have been given the blessings of the priesthood, and we have been given the Light of Christ and the Holy Ghost for a reason. That reason is our growth and happiness in this world and eternal life in the world to come. Today I ask, have we received that Spirit? Are we following on the strait and narrow path that leads to God and eternal life? Are we holding onto the iron rod, or are we going another way? I testify that how we choose to feel and think and act every day is the way we get on the path, and stay on it, until we reach our eternal destination…

“To all who desire to enjoy the supernal blessings of agency, I testify that agency is strengthened by our faith and obedience. Agency leads us to act: to seek that we may find, to ask that we may receive guidance from the Spirit, to knock on that door that leads to spiritual light and ultimately salvation. I bear special witness that our Savior Jesus Christ is the source of that light, even the Light and Life of the World. As we use our agency to follow Him, His light will grow within us brighter and brighter until that perfect day when we are welcomed into the presence of our Father in Heaven for all eternity. That we will use our agency to that sacred and glorious end, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”
